NEWS - Pastoral Visitors - Training and team building

Our pastoral visiting team

We would like to establish a support team working with the Vicar, Revd Joe Moffatt, to sustain and support our growing church family.

The team would be involved in visiting the elderly, housebound or sick, provide a follow up to a baptism and help to support the bereaved.

What is pastoral care?

Pastoral care can be described as the opportunity to show the loving care of the Church within our community.

The most significant activity during a visit is to listen.  Generally people will look forward to your visit and enjoy the opportunity to talk to you.  Sometimes the people you are visiting may be going through difficult times and extra sensitivity is required for those visits.

The course

The team train together to provide the skills to undertake visiting.
Modules include:

Listening skills

Making a visit

Role and organisation

Confidentiality

Specific needs for different type of visits
