The Children's Guide to the Church

The Children’s Guide to the Church is a lovely, informal event where the youngest in the parish have an opportunity to experience parts of the church they normally only see from a church pew.

Father Joe and other members of the church provide a warm welcome and fun introduction to aspects of regular Sunday services, such as taking Holy Communion, visiting the altar and readings from the Bible at the Lectern.

Children also visit the Font for a mock baptism, sit in the choir stalls, climb up into the pulpit and even ring the church bell.

Throughout the hour, children are able to question and explore, bringing the church building and the significance of its functions to life.

Afterwards children and parents are invited to enjoy refreshments and cakes in the parish hall.  There are lots of toys for all ages and lots of space for the little ones to play while parents can relax and chat.

The Children’s Guide is a fun and interactive way for children (and parents!) to explore and become more familiar with St Mary with St Alban church.
