OUR COMMUNITY - Churches Together

churches together

The CTT Council is made up of representatives of the Churches in Teddington, Hampton Wick and Fulwell - the Methodist, Baptist, Salvation Army, Catholic, & Church of England and the Sons of Devine Providence. It meets four times per year and organises a number of joint services and events. Co-operation between the churches is good and we enjoy very much attending the special services held in each other’s churches.

A) Each year the council organise a number of joint services:-

- The Easter Procession and service at the green by the Methodist Church. This is followed by a Vigil by the Cross, with each church taking a half hour period.

- One World Week - a joint Communion service.

- Teddington Business Community switching on of the Christmas lights. A number of singers from various churches take part.

- 9000 leaflets, giving information about the Christmas services at all the churches, are printed and distributed.

- Week of Prayer for Church Unity.

B) Other Events.

- The main event each year is the Christmas Day Lunch at Ellery Hall. The guests are nominated by organisations such as Social Services. We obtained a donation from the Hampton Fuel Allotment Charity to cover the costs of the event. The guests each take home a parcel of food products, some of which come from the donations made at the Harvest Festival services.

- The CTT organise each year the Christian Aid appeal in Teddington.

- The rota for the weekly Teddington Memorial Hospital service is arranged by a CTT member.

-An information leaflet giving details of Church services in the area is produced and distributed to local Estate Agents.

- St Mary with St Alban church is allocated four representatives on the council.
