Responsibility and caring

We are fortunate in this parish to have the beautiful old church of St Mary for the worship of God and the teaching of the Christian faith; and a fine modernised hall for social and community activities. It is vital to maintain these facilities and to pass them on as a heritage for the future.

This responsibility is best expressed as CHRISTIAN STEWARDSHIP. Members of the Church show their caring as a commitment to give of their time, talents and money – such as cleaning, gardening, delivering newsletters, singing in the choir, teaching in Sunday School and in many other practical ways – more volunteers are always welcome. The cost of running the parish is high, so the giving of money on a regular basis is important – some regular members of the congregation use weekly blue envelopes for cash, others contribute by a Bank Standing Order. Yellow envelopes are available in the pews for occasional visitors. It is important that those who pay tax should also sign a Declaration of Gift Aid, so that the church can recover tax at no extra cost to the giver.
