St Mary Teddington Bells is a Handbell Team that meets every Monday evening in the office of the Parish Hall, Langham Road. It began as a youth group, but became an all adult team in 2003. However, people of all ages are welcome. The members are affiliated to the Handbell Ringers of Great Britain, a national organisation through which we meet other teams at rallies, workshops and other events. We ring in the church of St Mary with St Alban occasionally, have rung carols at the Christingle service and joined with other teams in Guildford Cathedral. Our repertoire is not all religious music, however, as handbells lend themselves to all types ranging from classical to jazz. We are fortunate in having our own 3-octave set of Malmark bells and so are able to entertain local clubs and societies. Handbell ringing is a fun way to make music with others, and it can be achieved without any prior knowledge of music. Our members are improving their techniques all the time, and we are constantly extending our repertoire. We always welcome new members. If you would like more information or wish to come and give it a try, please send an email to the following address handbells@stmarywithstalban.org |
