News Our school choir sang a beautifully harmonised performance of ‘Steal Away to Jesus’ at the induction of the Revd. Joe Moffatt by the Bishop of Kensington on 2nd September 2009. Since then the school choir have returned to the church several times to sing wonderful rendition of songs during the 9.45am service.
History Our school, St Mary's & St Peter's C E Primary School, is one of the oldest schools in the London Borough of Richmond upon Thames, having been founded in l832. Originally it occupied Victorian premises at the Broad Street end of Church Road, providing education for 41 boys, and was erected using voluntary contributions and with the patronage of Queen Adelaide, who made a personal donation of £100. It was rebuilt on the present site in Somerset Road in 1975 and celebrated its 175th Anniversary in 2007. The school is a Voluntary Aided Church of England School, sponsored equally by the two Teddington parishes reflected in its name; St Mary's with St Alban's and St Peter & Paul with St Michael & George. The Governors The Governors of St Mary’s & St Peter’s school are responsible for the strategic direction of our school and are very involved in the whole of school life. They meet as a whole group twice a term and in addition to this they meet for regular sub-committees. The Chair of Governors can be contacted via the school. St Mary with St Alban has several Foundation Governors who sit on the governing body, including Revd. Joe Moffatt. Our School’s Admissions Places are allocated in accordance with the following criteria, in order of priority: 2. Children who have an exceptional medical or social need requiring 3. Children who have siblings (including step and adopted siblings) at the 4. Children whose parents are regular worshipping members of one of the 5. Children whose parents are worshipping members of a church within 6. Children living closest to the school, measured by the shortest route by road or publicly maintained footpath. “Regular worshipping members” requires the parents/carers to demonstrate a regular commitment to the appropriate church. This involves attendance at worship at least once a month for two years prior to the application. If you are applying under criteria 4 you need to complete the school’s Supplementary Information Form (SIF) which the Vicar, Revd. Joe Moffatt, will need to sign and which must be returned to our school. In the event of over subscription in criteria 2, 3, 4 & 5 places will be allocated within that category using criteria 6. The Local Education Authority administers the admission process for all primary schools. Parents need to complete a common application form (CAF) from the LEA and return it to the LEA by the date specified. The LEA will send parents a letter informing them whether their child is being offered a place for the following September.
